I truly love my Sundays.
My day of rest, a truly refreshing day, when I need not attempt to fit God into my day, as all my activities for the day, are based around worship and devotional time with Him - He is my day. It's a day, when I can truly pour myself out to Him in worship, revealing all contents of my Alabaster box. Waiting expectantly, for a word from the teaching or sermon, a rhema word, that will raise me up to another level in Him. How exciting!
My Sunday's are always a diverse day, which truly enriches my walk with the Lord.
The church, I attend - Christ Temple Community Church, is a Pentecostal church. We share a church building, where we have the 3pm, 'slot'. As a child, I always attended church or Sunday School, on a Sunday morning, and I still endeavour to continue, to do so. I take every opportunity, to fellowship, with other congregations, in the morning, until my own church is blessed with their own building.
It's wonderful to experience different styles of worship and to fellowship with friends, networking and fostering new relationships. As I grew up, it was frowned upon to attend churches, outside of your own denomination, but that is no longer the case, times have certainly changed. Praise God!
I never fail to be blessed, revisiting my spiritual mothers, who fellowship at the old Holiness church, where I worshipped for most of my life, in the latter years, running a large Sunday School department, under their watchful eyes.

They never failed to give their opinions, on milestones in my life, they still do! Conversing with me, just as my mother would, never failing in their own way, to 'tell it, like it is' (ouch) - no masks, no pretence, just real honest to goodness, Godly counsel, straight from a heart of their real experiences. :) It can be a little sad at times, when I see yet, another empty chair, of one of my 'mother's', but oh, so joyful, when I hear that, 'mother', has gone home to be with the Lord.
Unfortunately, speaking in tongues was never encouraged there and was frowned upon, but Praise the Lord, a wave of change has wafted through the Church and blown away the 'cobwebs'. The tempo has quickened, the volume has been turned up, and heavenly languages, now flow freely (in a controlled way!) It is truly wonderful and quite exciting, when I see, the new thing that God has, and is continuing to do at my 'old fashioned' Holiness church.
I am always in awe of the fact, that at every second of every day, there is continual worship on earth and in Heaven, to God our heavenly Father, and that I am a part of that worship - excuse me, give me some room, while I just do a foot stomping, arm waving, Holy Spirit dance!!
How do you ensure that Sunday is truly your day of rest?
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more, as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10: 24 - 25

Thanks for sharing your day of rest Carole. We are really trying to do this in our family. Really making the whole day restful. Have a wonderful week!
Sis I am so happy and bless to hear that you love your Sundays' I too love it when I come into the house of the Lord for there is nothing like it. Speaking in tongues for me is a great blessing that God has given us. for when things happen in my life and when I pray in the spirit it is God spirit speaking to Him through me. And when I am done i am like a deer drinking that water filled so full and bless.

I thank God for the gift of tongues as speaking in tongues is so edifying, especially when God gives us the interpretation.

May you and your family, be blessed as you continue to pursue a restful Sunday. Thank you for your comment and God Bless.
I will have to pass on the "speaking in tongues" but yes, sundays are a days of refreshing and rest. Instruction and encouragement.
I too am trying to use Sunday as a day of rest for my family. After church, we normally spend some time together as a family, playing, doing crafts or watching movies. Very inspirational, and helps us remember that we need to be together to be a Godly family!

That made my heart leap, Carole.

Thanks for your relaxed Sunday words. It seemed like you were in such a relaxed moment when you wrote this post. It literally helped me to relax as well.
I too enjoy visit diverse denominations, because I don't like to confine God (Yahweh) into one religion. I think He is far too big for that.
I love your blog continue to share, and up lift. Be blessed
